Physalia is an independent company, servicing the needs of industry, governments, government agencies, regulatory bodies and private concerns worldwide. Technically Physalia was founded in 1990, although our history goes back considerably further and our origins can be traced to Hampstead and the former School of Biological Sciences at Westfield College, University of London. We are now an entirely independent organisation. Most of our members are trained to doctorate level and, with up to 40 years experience in their respective fields of expertise, several are acknowledged world authorities.
When Physalia was first formed, much of our work involved the detection and monitoring of environmental stresses for industry and regulators and typical projects included ecological surveys for pollution and contaminant monitoring. Since then we have expanded into several allied fields, developing new and innovative techniques to meet the needs of our growing customer base worldwide. Projects now include incident monitoring, mathematical analyses of non-biological data sets, modelling, contaminated groundwater studies, scientific and technical photography, forensic analyses of samples and production of scientific and non-technical materials for a variety of audiences and media. However, our core business remains the supply of authoritative, integrated, multi-disciplinary packages, helping regulators and industry to identify impacts and to avoid false allegations of environmental harm
